Hot foil stamping process
In principle, hot foil stamping is the process of using heat and pressure to apply metallic foil or holograms to materials such as light papers, carton board, laminated board, plastics and corrugated board.
The term hot foil stamping encompasses:

The process is used on a wide range of products to create decorative finishes and anti-counterfeiting measures. Various patterns are provided to customers for color selection and confirmation. To facilitate customers to see the gold-stamping effect in the design stage, long and narrow patterns are configured with cutting-lines.
Hot stamping is the process that applies thermal bonding technique to transfer permanent adhesion of foil to target surface (for instance, security paper, cardboard, PET, PVC, leather). Generally, hot stamping foil is used as decorative sheet. Unlike ordinary hot stamping foil, holographic hot stamping foil is showed with film holographic vivid effect. Thus, it is widely applied on cosmetic, alcohol, cigarette packaging and shopping bag etc. Furthermore, holographic hot stamping foil with customized logo patter design can meet anti-counterfeiting requirement, which is usually used on tickets, documents, certificates, pharmaceutical box, and so on.
What is hot stamping?
The hot stamping process includes a hot stamping press, a hot stamping die or type, and sometimes a hot stamping foil if you choose to add color to your impression. The hot stamping press contains a heating element that heats up the die or type; the marking cycle starts when the press engages the heated die or type with the foil and transfers the ink from the foil carrier onto the part to be marked. The press then disengages at the end of the marking cycle leaving behind a crisp, permanent, ink impression on the part.
